In 1991 – during a time of enormous racial strife – Daniel, a neurotic Jewish boy and Emefa, a brash Caribbean girl, become the unlikeliest of friends. When Daniel tries to take their relationship to the next level, Emefa is forced to choose between what’s right for her, and what her community demands.
